Commission for a short story, 300-400 words, written in the first person. The narrator is an employee at the NRA in charge of soliciting gifts from individuals. But the narrator has begun seeing things. Are they hallucinations? Is a sense of guilt creeping into the narrator’s life and influencing their interactions with co-workers and family?

The story must include a scene where the narrator interacts with a Republican politician.

The story must contain the line of dialogue: ‘Could be a trick of the light.’
